Budrio is a small medieval town, which lies in the countryside east of Bologna.​

However its origins date back to the ancient Romans. Its territory was divided among Roman veteran legionaries who created a colony.​

The church of San Lorenzo was already active in 1146. In the 14th century Cardinal Gil de Albarnoz rebuilt the village as a castle. Two large towers (1376) can still be seen but only a small section of the walls remains today. ​

he Giordano Bruno Institute rose in 1997 from theunion of five pre-existing schools presentin three different small towns just outside Bolognain the North of Italy, which are up to 25 kmaway from each other.Its overall 1200 students aged between 14 and 19 attendcourses in humanities and socialsciences, business science and mechanics, electronics,electrical engineering and otherSTEM subjects. After taking their school-leaving exam,some of the students go to universitybut most of them don’t. This is why it is of vitalimportance for them to acquireentrepreneurial skills.In some of our schools there is a high percentageof students of foreign origin or comingfrom deprived backgrounds showing low self-esteem,passive attitude and scarce motivationto learn. Early school leaving is an issue we areconstantly and strenuously tackling throughcounselling and redirecting students to the curriculumwhich most suits their interests,passions and skills.Inclusive education, multiculturalism and internationalisationas well as the building andspreading of mastery in using ICT figure among ourpriorities. As to inclusive education, ascore of highly specialized teachers take care ofthe educational needs of SEN, dyslexic orhandicapped students who are fully integrated in theschool and mainstream class activities.Multiculturalism has been promoted for more than 20years with exchanges between schoolsin twin towns with the support of the township. TheGiordano Bruno Institute has also takenpart in a series of Erasmus+ projects and Etwinningprojects recently with the aim offostering crossboundary friendships, open mindednessand entrepreneurial skills.
